Not to be outdone by Hezbollah in Cuba, the Hamas-funding, Turkish-based “charity” known as IHH is operating in Havana and financing a new mosque there. This endeavor represents an unfortunate expansion of attempted Muslim Brotherhood and pro-terrorist influence on the Caribbean (including Venezuela, Guyana, Haiti, Trinidad, and Florida).
IHH delivers Ramadan relief in Cuba
IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, which delivers aid in different countries and regions of the world throughout the holy Muslim month of Ramadan, has delivered Ramadan food packages to 350 families in Cuba, one of the South American countries.
IHH aid teams also organized an iftar dinner for Muslims living in Havana, the capital city of Cuba.
IHH aid team arrived in Havana following a 17-hour-long flight. Members of the team were welcomed by Yahya Pedro, president of the Cuban Islamic Union, which is a partner of the IHH in the region.
Following talks in Havana, IHH aid team delivered Ramadan food packages to 350 families the list of which was set earlier. Speaking during the delivery of the packages, IHH Project Coordinator İhsan Özyürek said: “As the IHH, we are in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in different parts of the world who are exposed to tyranny and need help. We are here today to be with our Muslim sisters and brothers in Havana, have an iftar dinner with them and listen to their problems. We have brought the greetings and donations of their sisters and brothers in Turkey. We hope to come together in the masjid which will be constructed soon.
IHH sponsors masjid construction in Cuba
Özyürek noted that people in Cuba convert to Islam through reading mostly, adding: “We have come here also to determine your needs. We hope that we will address the shortcoming of books on Islam in Spanish soon. We will never leave our Cuban sisters and brothers alone. This is the fourth time we have come here as the IHH. We will come here again as soon as possible. We will deliver aid and have iftar together here today and you will continue to have your iftars here as the guests of the IHH. We made all the necessary arrangements for this. We accelerated our efforts for the construction of a beautiful masjid in Cuba. We hope to complete the construction of this masjid as soon as possible thanks to donations of Turkish charity givers.”
For his part, Pedro said he was very happy to see Turkish brothers in Cuba. “I converted to Islam 22 years ago. We have had the problem of the shortage of source books until today. Thanks God, there are 700 Muslims in Havana and around 3,000 Muslims in Cuba. IHH is always taking care of our problems. We would like our brothers to come here more frequently, get to know us and our country. IHH has delivered aid to 350 families here and met the iftar costs of Muslim sisters and brothers throughout Ramadan. We pray for them.”
Spending 10 days in the region with the IHH aid team, journalist and writer Nevzat Çiçek said Cuban Muslims have the problem of shortage of source books on Islam and a masjid.
“IHH’s relief efforts here are of crucial importance and indispensable. This country has unfortunately been neglected to this effect. It is necessary to bring Muslims from Cuba to Turkey and give them religious education. I believe that Turkish Muslims will open another Kuba Masjid (the 1st after the Hijrath) in Cuba.
IHH aid team also paid a visit to the Turkish Embassy in Cuba and exchanged views with the Saudi ambassador to Cuba in his residence upon an invitation from the Saudi Arabian Embassy.
