Boycotting Israel is a Criminal Offence
Israel and Israelis have been bombarded by threats of economic boycotts for many years. Previously, U.S. politicians have been very careful not to be seen as supporting or encouraging international boycotts of Israel as to do so is a criminal offence in the United States, punishable by five to twenty years in prison.
“The penalties imposed for each “knowing” violation can be a fine of up to $50,000 or five times the value of the exports involved, whichever is greater, and imprisonment of up to five years. During periods when the EAR are continued in effect by an Executive Order issued pursuant to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, the criminal penalties for each “willful” violation can be a fine of up to $50,000 and imprisonment for up to ten years.”
In the wake of our most recent attacks by the vicious Hamas savages, the calls for (Illegal) boycotts of Israeli goods and services have reached a fever pitch. Instead of enforcing U.S. law, the current Administration and their Congressional supporters have actually employed the State Dept. and CIA to add a shrill contralto effect to the anti-Israel chorus.
Paul Pillar, a retired CIA intelligence officer and the main named source in this week’s Newsweek article, ‘Israel Won’t Stop Spying on the U.S.,’ which was rejected by Israeli officials, is also an outspoken supporter of the American Studies Association boycott of Israeli universities, according to an article he wrote for The National Interest.
Where are the self-proclaimed “Supporters of Israel”? Where are the American lawmakers who count on the votes of pro-Israel Christians and yet to the man, let the calls for boycotts remain unchallenged and free from prosecution? For that matter, with all their financial influence, why aren’t prominent evangelicals pleading for enforcement as they preach to their flocks from their gilded pulpits? Where is “Well-paid Abe” Foxman of the ADL? I have asked these questions hundred of times during the past few decades. The silence is obscene!
“Penalties for violation of the Antiboycott Regulations are governed by the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The IEEPA Enhancement Act provides for penalties of up to the greater of $250,000 per violation or twice the value of the transaction for administrative violations of Antiboycott Regulations, and up to $1 million and 20 years imprisonment per violation for criminal antiboycott violations.” Office of Antiboycott Compliance
When will good Americans and supporters of Israel demand compliance with U.S. law, and prosecute with vigour, those who defy our statutes, including John Kerry and his minions?
